Dr. Sanville Elected to Serve Statewide Association

The Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA) recently elected Dr. John Sanville, from the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District (UCFSD), and Dr. George F. Fiore, from the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU), as president and president-elect, respectively. Prior to his role as president, Sanville served as president-elect from October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2022. Both Sanville and Fiore will serve a one-year term in their respective roles, after which Fiore will succeed Sanville in the role of president.

Sanville has been the superintendent at UCFSD for the past 12 years. In his leadership role with PASA, Sanville advocates for students and educational leaders across the state. He has met with state legislators on several issues facing education over the last two years and recently provided testimony on the current teacher shortage for the House Education Committee Hearing in Harrisburg.

“I am both humbled and honored to serve PASA as president this year,” said Sanville. “There are numerous opportunities in front of us to support our members as they lead and contribute to the 500 school districts across Pennsylvania. I know Dr. Fiore well from our work together in Chester County, and I am grateful to now have his partnership in the work we do with PASA. When looking ahead, I am struck by the words of Winston Churchill, ‘We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give’."

Fiore joined the CCIU as executive director in August 2019. Prior to his appointment as CCIU's executive director, Fiore served as superintendent of the Kutztown Area School District. He is a nationally certified superintendent, a graduate of the Pennsylvania Department of Education Superintendents Academy, and serves on several statewide committees.

“I am honored to have been elected by my peers for the role of president-elect and to serve alongside Dr. Sanville,” said Fiore. “Working together in our PASA roles will allow us to strongly advocate for all students in every part of Pennsylvania. While each school community is unique, we are here to support the diversity of needs across the state and make sure that every student in PA has what they need to learn and be successful.”

The Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators is a professional community of educational leaders who are committed to achieving quality public education for all learners. PASA’s members include superintendents, assistant superintendents and other school district and intermediate unit administrators.

“As we begin a new calendar year at PASA on October 1, we welcome Dr. John Sanville as this year’s president and Dr. George Fiore as president-elect for PASA’s Board of Governors,” stated Dr. Sherri Smith, Executive Director of PASA. “We are thrilled to have two quality and proven educational leaders to guide the work and advocacy of our organization, representing school leaders from across the commonwealth. Never has there been a more important time for strong and committed leadership in education and we are confident that, with Dr. Sanville’s and Dr. Fiore’s leadership, we are in good hands.”
