Lincoln University CDP issued the following announcement on May 12.
Lincoln University softball history has been made.
Freshman MacKienzee Rasheed (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) is the first LU softball player to earn all-region honors as she was named second-team D2CCA All-Atlantic Region as a utility player.
"MacKienzee was instrumental in our success this season, playing multiple positions and excelling at each of them," said Lincoln University Head Softball Coach Renee Clarke. "Her steady bat in the number two hole helped us generate runs as well. I look for MacKienzee to have even better seasons in the years to come."
A true utility player for the Lions, Rasheed started in seven different positions – designated player, left field, right field, third base, second base, first base, and catcher. She slashed .290/.324/.370 on the season and finished in the top 10 of Lincoln's single-season record book in three categories. She was tied for third in home runs (2), fifth in hits (29), and seventh in RBI (17).
Rasheed finished seventh in the CIAA in putouts (125) and total chances (137) and was tenth in the CIAA - second on the team - with a .972 fielding percentage.
She is one of seven Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association players named either first- or second-team all-region. Rasheed was joined by freshman Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) on the CIAA All-Rookie Team.
In what can be term as a transformational season, Lincoln tied for the most CIAA wins in school history with five on the season. Five different players found themselves ranked in the top 10 of Lincoln's D2-era single-season record book.
