“We brought back four seniors that I believe will be a big part of our success because of the experience they bring,” said Lincoln University Head Coach Emmanuel Awotula.
Freshman Parker Moss (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) could be an additional scoring weapon for the Lincoln arsenal. Veteran forward junior Kianna Lee (Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago/East Stroudsburg North (PA)) will be joined by freshman Victoria Flowers (Philadelphia, Pa./Hill Freedman Academy) as part of the forward rotation.
“Our biggest strengths are the number of attacking options we will have this season,” said Awotula.
Defense and midfield will have a plethora of new options.
Junior defenders Sam McFarlane (New Rochelle, N.Y./Mount Vernon) and Najerrei Thompson (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) are the lone returners in the midfield and defense. Transfer Morgan Alverson (Gentry, Ark./Westville (OK)/Missouri Southern) brings some more experience to the backline.
Freshman Taylor Allen (Willingboro, N.J./Burlington Co. Tech), sophomore Kenya Cargill (Orangeville, Ontario/Orangeville), freshman Ah’Nazha Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa./Central), sophomore Kirsten Edwards (Baltimore, Md./Mercy), and sophomore Shania Cannion-Lawry (Philadelphia, Pa./Hill Freedman Academy) are all pushing for minutes in the Lincoln defense.
The midfield is littered with all newcomers as freshman Theresa Schmid (Ringelai, Germany/Gymnasium Freyung), freshman Dominique Duvil (Long Island, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy), freshman Grace Quiah (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram) are all competing to join the rotation.
After graduating four-year starter Lena Rodriguez, Lincoln will turn to a trio of untested keepers. Dakwa is the only one with any collegiate experience as she had three starts in 2018 for the Lions. Freshmen MacKienzee Rasheed (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) and Saige Samuels (Laurel, Md./Paint Branch) will join Dakwa in the competition for the starting goalkeeper.
Lincoln opens the season 3 p.m. Bloomfield at the Lincoln University Auxiliary Field.
