West Grove Borough, Pa issued the following announcement on Oct 7.
The West Grove Borough recycling program that runs weekly on Wednesday’s will begin to undergo some necessary changes. The recyclables we collect are processed at the SECCRA landfill. SECCRA has alerted us that they will no longer accept recycling in plastic bags, either single use retailer bags or trash bags. These bags clog the processing machines and are the number one contaminate in the recycling process. Number two is pizza boxes. Neither will be accepted in our recycling stream moving forward.
Single use plastic bags should be saved and recycled at your retailer of choice such as Giant or Lowe’s, both have collection boxes as you enter. If you need more recycling capacity please use clean plastic trash cans the crews can easily handle or contact the office and we will drop additional bins off for you. Starting next week we will begin tagging locations that are not properly presenting recycling, which needs to be clean, free from refuse and contain no plastic bags or pizza boxes.
The week of October 19th we will begin to reject improperly presented recyclables. Currently SECCRA does not charge us to deposit recycling, that however will change if we don’t clean up our stream of materials and we need the communities help to accomplish this. #THEGROVE
