Rep. John Lawrence has announced the approval of $1.1 million in state grants aimed at enhancing municipal water infrastructure in southern Chester County. This funding is set to benefit the boroughs of Oxford and West Grove.

Lawrence emphasized the importance of regular updates to municipal water systems, stating, “Regular upgrades of municipal water infrastructure help to keep rates reasonable while providing quality service to the community.” He highlighted that these grants are highly competitive and result from significant efforts to improve local water services.

Oxford is allocated a $600,000 grant for updating its metering infrastructure. Kathryn Cloyd, president of Oxford Borough Council, remarked on the necessity of strategic investments in critical infrastructure for sustainability. She stated, “This grant will enable us to improve efficiency and customer service with the installation of Advanced Metering.”

West Grove will receive a $500,000 grant for replacing a failing water main near East Evergreen Street. Greg McCummings, West Grove Borough manager, expressed gratitude for the support from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), saying that the funds would enhance fire protection and reliability through improved water distribution.

Lawrence also reflected on his experiences growing up in southern Chester County and his efforts as an elected official to secure state funding for local projects. “Working with local municipalities and other elected officials, together we have ensured our community is not forgotten when it comes to state funding,” he said.
